
Puerto Duquesa is located in the municipality of Manilva, at the western end of the Costa del Sol in the province of Malaga, Spain.
Manilva is a traditional village located in the hills behind Puerto Duquesa, an area that has always been dedicated to fishing and wine production giving rise to the “mosto” wine which is famous in the region. Today Manilva and Puerto Duquesa has been transformed into one of the most beautiful turistic locations on the Costa del Sol without losing any of the traditional charm. There are few places where we get the opportunity to contemplate the end of a continent and the start of a new continent, not forgetting the fact that we can visit it by ferry in under an hour from the nearby port town of Algeciras and Tarifa.

You can try a mouth-watering meal with the choice of Chinese, Indian, Italian, French, British, Irish and of couse Spanish cuisine (both in the Port itself as well as in the nearby villages of Sabinillas or Castillo which are within walking distance, and Manilva. This can be followed up with a visit to the numerous drinking establishments in Puerto Duquesa, whether your fancy is karaoke, viewing sporting events or a quiet chat in a pub.
The cosmopolitan atmosphere of Puerto Duquesa has made it a well known place for it´s mixture of different cultures and nationalities.

Now a bit of history: Given it´s location on the edge of the Mediterranean, throughout history, Manilva has been the chosen place for a number of cultures. The first known inhabitants of the area we from the Paleolithic age, evidence of which can be found in the hills near Utrera.

The most extensive ruins that tell us about the diverse history of the area relate to the Roman era, among which the most noted example is known as “Castillo de la Duquesa” and the Roman villa of Sabinillas.
